Editorial Policy

Empowering Facts publishes political reporting and commentary. This page states how we do it, so readers can judge our work by a standard we have written down.

Reporting and opinion

We publish both, and we do not blur them. Reporting sections state what happened, who did it, and when. Commentary states a position, and we own it in plain language rather than hiding it behind vague attribution. Our commentary is openly right-leaning. We say so here so no reader has to guess.

Sourcing

We name the people and institutions involved. We cite specific figures, dates, votes, bill numbers, and rulings rather than "millions" or "reports say."

Where a claim comes from a single source, we say so. Where a story is developing and facts may change, we say that too.

Quotes

Quotations attributed to real people are reproduced from a verifiable source. We do not paraphrase a person's words and present the result inside quotation marks, and we do not publish a quote we cannot trace to a recording, transcript, filing, or the speaker's own published statement.

If we cannot verify a quote, we do not run it.

Images

Photographs are used to illustrate the subject of the article. Some images on this site are digitally generated or digitally altered illustrations rather than documentary photographs. Where an image is an illustration, it is used to depict the subject of the story and is not presented as a photograph of a specific real moment.

What we will not publish

Invented quotes or invented crimes attributed to real people. Claims that a named person committed a crime they have not been charged with or convicted of, stated as fact. Attacks on people based on their race, religion, or ethnicity. Private individuals' home addresses, phone numbers, or workplaces. Sweeping claims that an election was stolen absent specific, verifiable evidence. Medical claims contradicted by the weight of published evidence.

Corrections

We correct errors, and we do it visibly.

When we get a material fact wrong, we fix the article and add a dated correction note to it saying what was wrong and what it now says. We do not quietly edit a story and pretend the original never ran.

Independence and funding

Empowering Facts is funded by advertising displayed on this site. We are not paid by any party, campaign, candidate, PAC, or government body, and we do not accept payment in exchange for coverage. Advertisers have no influence over what we cover or how we cover it, and no advance access to our reporting.

Artificial intelligence

We use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, to help draft, research, and produce images for our work. Every article is reviewed by a human editor before publication, and the publication is responsible for everything that appears here regardless of the tools used to make it.
